Featured Business - Street Sounds on Melrose

Our Change for Change Adventures Have Begun.

While out on Melrose, contacting businesses regarding their recyclables. . .we discovered this record shop, Street Sounds.

Opened in 1989 by DJ/House producer Bob, Street Sounds has been providing an outlet for local artists, djs, and promoters ever since. Working in connection with all of the local massive promoters to distribute tickets for events, and distributing local DJ mixes . . . he finds himself amongst the most talented artists of Los Angeles.

While visiting with Bob it was instantly shown that he was dedicated to the art music scene here in Los Angeles. Offering DJ Schools in the store, and in-store appearanes; in addition to employing some of the top DJs in LA. . . R.A.W, RobOne (R.I.P), Christopher Lawrence, Barry Weaver, Eddie Amador, Mark Lewis, Frank C. . . these all make the store BOOM with sound vibrations!

"Music is a fundemental to the spirit." - Bob

In addition to the support he provides to the music scene, Bob has provided an outlet for local artists . . whether that is T-Shirt designs, shoe designs, or even paintings from an artists named Hendrix.

Bob's outlook on the current economy is like many of our thoughts. . . "It's not getting better for another 15-20 years." Although he does offer a bit of knowledge in regards to money saving tips in these times of economic struggle . . . "Whatever cash you have, Save it!"

He also recommended Gandhi's values as he is a follower of the Gandhi ways.

Bob is a part of Studio 54 in Las Vegas with a residency there spinning the top house music. When he's not traveling to Vegas you'll find him operating Street Sounds on Melrose; he opens at noon seven days a week, and is open into the evening. You may visit: StreetSounds.com for additional information on Street Sounds events and specials. Next time you're out wandering the humble streets of Melrose make a drop into Street Sounds for your next B. Obama T-Shirt, or that new fresh Dj Mix . . . or the ticket to the next big party in LA. . . cause if you're not saving the money . . .you might as well spend it somewhere that supports what we're all a part of . . . ART! :]

Bob is a supporter of Change for Change, and for that we are grateful. We truly enjoy the energy from Bob, and appreciate his support and advice. Bob We Thank You!

Day One - Beginnings

As Change for Change set out our mission was in heart and mind. Information packets ready and our pitch needed no convincing, it was up to us to find the change on Melrose.

Then as only the Universe can plan, we see this mother struggling to carry a 36-pack of water, of course instantaneously we offer our service. Reaching her destination we mention to her out movement, and our first bag of recyclables was set to be pick up at 5 pm after The Miracle Worker play at the Matrix Theater.

This moment inspired the day . . . from there we reached out to 5 local businesses. We now have 3 of those 5 signed up and two have already donated their first bag! The other two, fortunately already are donating their recyclables to families who have contacted them.

Out of the businesses we've choose Street Sounds as our featured business. Bob is a DJ/Producer here in LA, and has supported the local art and music scene since 1989. Check back tomorrow for images and bio for Street Sounds on Melrose--he also offers a DJ SCHOOL!

Our journey is off to a great start, and we're looking forward to collaborating with the community in order to relieve the burdens of this financial disaster. If you're interested in donating your recyclables to Change for Change, feel free to contact us via email. We can arrange to have our volunteers pick up your recyclables at your convenience. Daily pick-up available.
